The Art of F. Javid
Farhang Javid was born in 1924. He received his masters
degree in 1947 from the University of Illinois. F. Javid's
unique marriage of impressionism and realism derives its
harmonious inspiration from two interrelated concepts: the
uniqueness of the individual and the oneness of humanity.
"The rich natural beauty of the pacific Northwest is a
delight for the eyes," said Javid, "But even more
inspiring is the beauty of diverse races, religions, cultures
and traditions sharing time and space together. To me, the
endless variety and underlying unity of humanity is a continual
joy. We are all flowers of one garden. Let us rejoice in the
beauty of our individuality and celebrate our even greater
collective beauty as a glorious bouquet."
Farhang Javid's paintings illustrate this recurring
theme as seen in his works with such titles as Paradise Garden,
Flowers of One Garden, Divine Kiss and Sea of Tranquility.
Javid's heartfelt appreciation for unity in diversity is derived
from his lifelong devotion to the positive and uplifting
teachings of the Bahá'í Faith. The arts are highly valued in
the Bahá'í Faith, as are all efforts to increase cooperation,
respect and appreciation for all people, of whatever race or
religion. Based on the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh (1817-1892),
the Baha'i Faith offers several excellent and informative web
sites. Two of the most popular are The
Bahá'í World and The
Bahá'í Faith.
